Central Oklahoma puts a lengthy winning streak on the line this weekend when the top-ranked Bronchos journey to Colorado to take on a pair of longtime NCAA Division II rivals.
UCO, 9-0 this season, has won 16 straight duals and 41 of its last 42. The Bronchos start the weekend Friday in Alamosa against Adams State (4-1) before moving on to Pueblo Saturday to face Colorado State-Pueblo (5-3).
Match-time both nights is 7 p.m. (Oklahoma time).
“It’s a long trip and we know it will be a hostile environment both nights,” said head coach Todd Steidley, now 95-12 in his eighth year at the helm. “We have a long history with these teams. We’ve had some great battles over the years and I expect more of the same this weekend, so our guys need to be ready.”
UCO first met Adams State during the 1976-77 season and has a 27-5-1 lead in the series, including a tough 24-15 home win last year. The Bronchos have never lost to the Thunderwolves, owning a 21-0 advantage in a series that started in 1984.
Central returns to Edmond for its final two home duals of the season, hosting Central Missouri on Feb. 4 and Drury on Feb. 11, before finishing the regular season Feb. 16-17 with back-to-back matches at Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State…
